what is beach tennis

Beach Tennis is the sandy sensation of the game you know and love, with people playing socially and competitively around the world.

Beach tennis is a much loved sport in 70 countries. It is played using beach tennis paddles and a low compression Stage 2 ‘orange’ tennis ball, on sand courts measuring 16x8m and a net 1.7m high. And no – the ball does not bounce!

Beach tennis is a sport with a very easy learning curve, anyone can play and it’s perfect for all ages. We have players ranging from 7 to their 70s!

The exercise can be moderate or intense, depending on your skill. As it’s played on the sand, the game is easy on your knees. It’s a great workout, but fun.

Testimonials

I had tried to learn tennis a couple of times, however, I struggled. When I decided to give beach tennis a go, I could see how much better it is to play with a smaller and lighter racket. By far, choosing beach tennis as my sport has been the best choice I’ve ever made. Beach tennis has added more fun to my beach time in such a nice friendly environment.

I found out about the the sport through the power of Facebook and thought why not, let’s give this unusual sport a try. As I’m from Scotland I don’t get the opportunity to get down to the beach and try out beach sports. At first beach tennis can appear intimidating but with the guidance of our Head Coach, Alex, I was able to pick up the basic skills and techniques quickly. It is also a great way too keep fit from running around on the sand. Beach tennis has also given me the opportunity to meet new people from different parts of the world and also experience new cultures and cuisines. If you ever get the chance you should definitely try out beach tennis on the Gold Coast!

Now I have a sport to call mine and it has been amazing improving every week with this awesome team! Thank you all! My Saturdays became better since I’ve started playing with you guys!! Come play with us and you’ll understand what I’m talking about :)))
